"Hey!" Brendon called in a controlled voice; neither too loud, nor too combative. He walked briskly toward the escaping vehicle.
The taxi driver, who was backing out of a space in the Cub parking lot, stopped and turned his face to his summoner.
Their eyes met.
"Did you throw that out your window," Brendon asked, the index finger of his left hand pointing to a discarded Caribou Coffee container that lay on the striped asphalt. His tone remained non-threatening.

These nine (Olympic on Sunday) and 10-year old (sprint on Saturday) events feature a scenic venue, large and enthusiastic crowds of spectators and some of the best post-race eating you'll find anywhere. (Insert yummy sounds here.) The SCVT's Luau, featuring roast pig, is now legendary. And oh so yummilicious! Approximately 600 participants are anticipated for sprint; and 200 for the Olympic. If you've ever been caught in a rip-tide or an undertow, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about....
Two Sundays ago my friend Matt and I decided to go to Afton Alps to do some mountain biking to shake up our tri training. We were pretty impressed with the size of the mountain biking enthusiast crowd- somewhere in the neighborhood of 900 people were sporting bikes. As we headed toward one of the trail heads we also noticed that half the people there were wearing some sort of Halloween costume to include large objects taped to the top of their helmets such as chickens and boats. A very odd crowd indeed... I heard my name being called out from the midst of a throng of mountain bikers at the base of a trail and so I waded into the crowd to find some friends within the huddle.
