Weekend Racing Stuff - Three 2010 Rookie of the Year candidates rocked the Minnesota scene this weekend. Today in Orono at the 19th Gear West Duathlon, tri-sophomore Dan Hedgecock picked up his first career victory. And it was a Biggie! Dan outraced Patrick Parish (2nd), who hasn't lost to a fellow Minnesota amateur since mid-August in 2009, and Matthew Payne (3rd) and a gaggle of other elite....

A colleague of mine asked me why I am participating in the MS150 ride to help fight against Multiple Sclerosis instead of cleaning up trash or building houses as part of a charity fundraiser. I gave him two reasons :
1) I would get stuck in wet cement or fall off the roof.
2) I believe in using what you enjoy to help others.
The MS150 is a way for athletes to get involved doing what they do best: Sitting on their butts for hours, better know as riding a bike....

Judi was going to race, too, but she's got planetary fascism, or something like that, which makes her feet hurt a lot, so she decided not to. R - We didn't have a picture of men's winner, Nathan Hoffman, so we did the next best thing: post a picture of awesome actor, Philip Seymour Hoffman.)
*Green Lake Duathlon Capsule - A race doesn't have to be big to be totally good.
There were only 51 finishers at the totally good 2nd annual Green Lake Duathlon this morning, which was totally good despite being contested in gray and wet conditions, though the gray wasn't as ..

Race Preview - Own a wetsuit? If not, buy, rent or borrow one if you plan to race at the 7th annual Albert Lea Triathlon, which is a totally cool event produced by totally cool people, on Sunday. Water temps will be "invigorating." The goodish news is that the swim is only a quarter mile long.
On to the competitive stuff.
More interesting than predicting who will win on Sunday is who will place second.
