Race Preview - Approximately 400 athletes are currently enrolled in Saturday's 7th annual New Bri Tri. Race-day registration will be available.
Despite sharing the weekend with the humongous (1600 entrants) and deep-fielded Buffalo Triathlon and the large (800 entrants) ultra-competitive Midwest Multisport Series' Pigman Sprint, New Bri nevertheless manages to attract many of our region's most talented multisporters. Race Preview - A record 1600 athletes have signed up for the 9th edition of the Buffalo Triathlon next Sunday. One of Minnesota's three largest tris, with Life Time-Minneapolis and Chisago Lakes, Tri Buff is the Crown Jewel of the terrific 10-race Tri Minnesota Series. * Since 2008 Kasson's Mario Minelli, who has extremely attractive ankles (photo L), has won three duathlons and has established himself as one of our state's most consistent run-bike-runners. Last Saturday (May 26) Super Mario earned his first career triathlon victory, doing so at the Northstar Tri in Esterville, Iowa. Twas a dominant effort as Minelli covered the sprint distances in 55:46, 5:45 ahead of runner-up Kevin Mitchell. The women's race was won by Kathy Grady of South Dakota. We mention her because we've known her since 2006 and she is one of the coolest people we've ever met. She has awesome cyclist legs..... RESULTS
