WASECA 1/3 & SPRINT IV - Diane Hankee was totally awesome on this dank, cool morning in friendly Waseca. So were the brothers Cooley, Sean and Jake. And John Heinlein III. And Enoch Elliot (photo L). And Beth Guck. And Tammy O'Connor. And a guy who promised himself years ago that if he ever won his division in a triathlon, he'd quit the sport and learn how to speak "Ta'izzi-Adeni," the Arabic dialect spoken by most of the people in Yemen, and at least six guys in the United Arab Emirates. His name is Rick Gauger; he lives in Waseca; and we may have embellished the part about his desire to speak Yemeni Arabic. Rick is rethinking his promise and may, henceforth, dispense with promising altogether. There's no way he is going to give up triathlon. Especially now that he has rocked an AG win in his own backyard and the guys at PJ's Tavern on South State Street said that they ...

HOOT LAKE TRIATHLON- 192 guys and gals crossed the finish line of the umpteenth annual Hoot Lake Triathlon in Fungus Falls this morning. Okay, it's actually "Fergus Falls," but Angie Hop, who won there last year but did Waseca 1/3 instead this season (and rocked!), prefers it's affectionate eukaryotic sobriquet.
The event was won by Ryan Deyounge of Worthington, who may or may not be the drummer for Christian rock band "Mainstay," who supposedly sound a little like the "Goo Goo Dolls," and Missy Heilman (photo L), who likes red cocktails, "Daughtry" (Who doesn't?) and "The Biggest Loser." According to runner-up Cindy Schlafmann, a world....

CHASE THE POLICE TRI III - Groovy race this morning in Walker. Lots of awesome performances and rewritten divisional records on a morning that was perfect for such stuff. Sean Kaneski and Jenny Wilcox (YndeCam photo L), who recorded her 15th career multi win, led the way.
2010 CTP champ Leanne Bronson was totally rocking and rolling when a bad thing rendered her bike un-rideable. She smiled, shrugged her shoulders and had a beer. She'll rock socks at Brewhouse next week. A 70-year-iold lady named Vera made her tri debut, as did her son and teenage granddaughter.. It was soooo cool.
More words and some great images on Tuesday. RESULTS
The Scent of Impending Victory...

Waseca IV Preview - Some athlete's claim that victory has a "scent,"and that they can detect it prior to an event they are destined to win.
According to a guy who calls himself a Quantum Smellocologist, Victory Aroma is not only delectable by those who will be overall champions. It is also perceptible to those who will win their AGs, or "win" a PR, or win a personal battle with a particular adversary, or whatever defines winning for them.
Cool.
Of course, some skeptics decry the veracity of the VST (Victory Scent Theory), claiming that such a phenomenon simply does not exist. Others believe that impending victory has a feel, not a scent, and that said feeling is delectable in either...
