By Michael McConkey's Wetsuit, Bike and Running Shoes
LIBERTY HALF RACE REPORT - Michael has been slacking so we decided we would write the Final Stretch 70.3 Liberty Half Ironman race report for him. I am Michael’s 2XU R3 wetsuit, next up will be his Cervelo P2 Tri bike, and finally his Newton Distance 5 running shoes.
Let me get this started, like any wetsuit, I dream of gliding through water, feeling it flow across me as I propel forward stroke after stroke, passing other wetsuits on the way to a glorious swim leg.
Unfortunately, you don’t choose your owner. I got Michael, don’t get me wrong, he tries hard but the guy just can’t swim. Race after race we start out slow and sort of just get slower and by the time we get out of the water and into transition all the other wetsuits are already relaxing and soaking in the sun. Never the less any time I get to race is better than sitting on the shelf so I was excited to be put on and taken for a quick warm up swim. Got to see several other LAM’s wetsuits. Of course Radniecki’s new wetsuit was all “we’re gonna crush this course”, but hey he can bring it so I wished him good luck and wondered if I was the same size? (so what, it’s a wetsuit dream, have you seen him handle a...

Awesome Christine Wood Photo -The tall guy who kinda looks like a tall can of Coors Light is her husband, Curt.
CAPITOL CITY TRIATHLON - Many assume that big things are awesomer than small things. Sometimes those people are right, i.e. a big bowl of Ben & Jerry's Salted Caramel Ice Cream is more awesome than a small one. (Another example: Diminutive comedian Kevin Hart is much funnier than porcine comics, Cedric the Entertainer and Sinbad.)
And sometimes those folks are wrong. The Capitol City Triathlon was a small race, only 150ish entrants, but few who participated would rank it beneath any of the larger events that have taken place thus far in 2015, or perhaps will be staged later in the season. Why? Because everythig about it was special. The courses were awesome--closed two-loop bike route, a scenic and gently rolling run around...

LIBERTY TRIATHLONS - The forecast on Saturday called for clouds and mild temps. No rain predicted. As the astute poet Mick Jagger, who according to the late Joan Rivers, has "child bearing lips," says at almost every Stones concert, "You can't always get what you want."
You guessed it. It rained, though not like in 2014 when the transition area resembled the Everglades, albeit without prehistoric animals and Burmese pythons that Florida exotic pet owners released because the creatures had eaten their non-exotic pets, i.e. dogs, cats and gerbils.
We digress.
Despite the rain, most of Liberty's participants--paraphrasing Jagger--"got what they need"....

Challenge Knoxville Race Report - At the beginning of this season I wasn’t planning on racing any half iron distance races but after the Lifetime series was cancelled I had to re-evaluate what I was doing. With no Olympic distance races on the schedule after July, I could either do more draft legal racing or try some 70.3’s. I didn’t want to plan on racing a bunch of 70.3’s without knowing if I would enjoy it so I set my sites on racing Challenge Knoxville in May. Since I’ve been dealing with some body annoyances here and there I wanted to see how my body felt after St. Anthony before I bought my ticket to Knoxville. After a few days of recovery I knew I would be in fine shape to race so I pulled the trigger and bought my flight and hotel for Knoxville....
