Triathlon Running Pace...

TRI-RUNNERS.gifBy Stephanie Liles-Weyant (triathlon.competitor.com)

Q: I have done a lot of running races, but I’m doing my first triathlon this season. How will my typical running pace change for a triathlon?

A: There is a difference in how you’ll feel running off your bike compared to how you feel during a running-only race. During my first triathlon, I was riding my bike into T2 and saw the athletes going out on the run, looking sluggish. I thought, “I’m going to beat them all!” Little did I know exactly how my legs would feel when I started running—heavy and slow. That is one thing that you don’t expect when doing a triathlon, but there are ways to prepare yourself. For most athletes, there’s about a 1–2-minute difference between a freestanding 5K time and their triathlon 5K time....

Hooked on Reese's & Modern Family....

image1.gifWARNING: Some content may be slighty embellished.

On Friday we posted WADE CRUSER's 2015 tri accomplishments and predicted that he'd have another breakout season in 2016, one that may land him a Most Improved nomination and perhaps even a berth on Team Minnesota. Today, we're going to introduce you to Wade the Guy.

When Wade is not training he is either doing his full-time job--Gas and Electric Meter Maintenance--playing with his dogs, binge-watching Netflix stuff or eating Doritos.

Wade has a pretty girlfriend named Deanna. She has a great smile and looks awesome in her oversized sun glasses. She has a pair of pearl earrings that Wade may or may not have purchased for her...

Over the years, The McCarthy Project has seen or worked with everything from hyperbaric tents and systems, altitude training, and virtual reality trainers, for the simple purpose of gaining an edge for athletes.  After many years of searching, The McCarthy Project believes that oxygen and oxygen training could be one of those Rosetta stones for athletes.  It amazes the mind that you could move all around the idea of taking oxygen away, sleeping...

Watch Out for Wade...

wade-wetsuit.gifThe MTN Guys are getting excited about the 2016 outdoor season. For us, it's time to start talking about the athletes we believe will break out this year, perhaps even land a spot on Team Minnesota.

One member of 2015 Men's Team Minnesota--Brian Sames--has left the state, and the obvious frontrunners for filling his vacancy are Mike Ward, Larry Hosch and Steve Morris.

But these aren't the only guys who will be vying for a spot on the team. Let's add WADE CRUSER's name to this list. Wade is 29 and resides in Sauk Rapids. He is an accomplished distance runner, which means that he has the ability to come-from-behind and claim a podium spot, perhaps even a win.

Assuming that he is healthy and training diligently, we predict that he'll be faster this year than last year. Let's take a close look at his 2015 resume....

Rossing Rocks in the Land of Old Cars...

jess-medal.gif- JESSICA PATEAR EL CULO - MTN congratulates Jess Rossing on her fourth place / 1st US finish last weekend at the Habana CAMTRI Sprint Triathlon in Havana, Cuba, aka the Land of Hemingway and really, really old cars.. The delightful Duluthian was the Open Female champion at this event in 2015, but her time was almost three minutes faster this year and the women's field was more than twice as large as a year ago.

We've encouraged Jess to blog about her experience. When she does, we will happily repost. RESULTS

FYI, while raiding her FB page in search of photos to filch, we discovered that Jess might be in love with a guy that has a Man Bun. We hope she is, because love is a good thing.

- DEAR MICHELLE ANDRES - Please race more often in 2016, okay? We miss you. It's weird when you show up for one race during the season and WIN it in dominating fashion and receive the Performance of the Year award, but do not get a spot on Team Minnesota. So you know, to be ...
