INDIA EIGHTYTWO. That was the name given me by the EMT and put on my wristband prior to me being loaded on the ambulance following my bicycle accident. At 30+mph a small rub on the rear wheel of the rider in front of me in the pace line and things changed forever. Never, Never, Never cross wheels in a group ride. After 40 years of competitive bike riding I made one mistake, and there is no do-over, and it really hurts both physically and mentally.
Broken Scapula, broken hip, broken ribs, collapsed lung, torn rotator cuff, huge hematoma, toe to head road rash. All on the left side. As a...

Know your limits, and be aware of how they change with your training and fitness level.
By Monique Ryan (triathlon.competitor.com)
One might expect that endurance athletes would be among those inclined not to drink alcohol, given their greater awareness of health issues and their desire to perform well in training and competition. Still, many who do drink may not be aware of how it can affect their athletic performance. It is important for an athlete to use alcohol sensibly, as it does not play any role in...

SNEAKY GUY - Unbeknownst to most of his Minnesota peers, BRIAN BICH snuck off to Florida last November, where in addition to watching his seventies-genarian dad play fantasy baseball, he raced at the Miamiman Half Ironman. He finished 3rd overall behind two pros, making him the overall amateur champion. Not bad for a 49-year-old.
Via email, BB had this to say: The race was hot and wet and the swim was long but the race was very fun. Nice to race where nobody knew who I was. I raced very conservatively and felt great all day long!
According to our records, the victory was (at least) #46 of Bich's storied multisport career.Forty two of those wins were recorded after the millennial turn, making him the winningest Minnesota amateur male in this century.
Other competitive milestones include eight MMAs (with nine, only Tony Schiller has more awards among Minnesota's men), three USAT AOY HMs, 2008 US Master of the Year (several HMs, too)....

What is your sporting background?
Growing up in a small town in Iowa, I was able to participate in a variety of local youth sports leagues: basketball, t-ball, gymnastics, etc. When I entered junior high and high school, I still participated in a number of sports teams, but I’m not sure if you would call this a ‘sporting...

Q - I have Knee Pain, is it Patellar Tendonitis?
A - Patella tendonitis also known as jumper’s knee is a common cause of pain under the patella in athletes. It is commonly seen in jumping and running sports. The athlete is likely to experience soreness and stiffness after exercises.
