As a longtime age-grouper triathlete here in Minnesota, I’ve always loved the Lake Minnetonka Triathlon in June. In the past several years, I did it as a relay with my Dad (Joe) on the bike and my boy Peter on the run. In 2012, my Dad was 80 and Peter was 10, giving us the oldest and youngest competitors in the race. Since there's almost nobody in the male-relay division, we've won twice....

Minnesota Multisport Awards - Here are the official nominees for 2013 Male Triathlete of the Year:
SEAN COOLEY (28, Grand Forks, ND - photo L)
A two-time nominee for Most Improved, Sean has gone to the next level, earning his first TOY nomination. Clearly his state's premier multisports, Sean proved in 2013 that his talent places him in national-level company. Winner of three races--Paradise Olympic (ONT), Young Life Olympic and Superior Man Half-- and finishing 8th at the Best of the US Championship, Cooley was one of the most consistent performers in our region.

Big news, Claire and I are engaged! Since I haven't had any race news since Chicago I thought it'd be fun to put up a few pictures of our trip out to Colorado. We left last week and stopped for a night in Badlands National Park. Kevin has recently fallen in love with Custer State Park and tried to convince us to stop there, but we just used the stop to break up the 14 hour drive. We had a little time to climb around some of the formations.
