Liberty is Back!

The Minnesota tri scene has lost some major races lately, some permanently, some hoping to return. Prominent among the losses are four-time Race of the Year SUPERIOR MAN and our state's grandest swim-bike-run, MINNEAPOLIS TRIATHLON.

Perhaps saddest news of all:  We just learned that the YWCA WOMEN'S TRI will not happen this year. 

It's encouraging to know that while some iconic races leave the calendar, there are a few new races that may fill some of the holes (more on these proposed events later). Perhaps the best news in this regard is the return of the LIBERTY TRIATHLON, a race that enjoyed fifteen great seasons and boasted one of the best venues in the upper Midwest....

Ted, Rachel & CY Excel at N. American Champs...

Several triathletes with strong Minnesota ties excelled at the North American 70.3 Championships in hilly St. George, Utah last weekend. Check out these performances:

TED TREISE - Sophomore pro / 2020 Minnesota Triathlete of the Year lowered his 70.3 personal best from 4:08:29  at Augusta 2018, to 4:07:33 on the vastly more challenging southern Utah course. As a newcomer to pro racing he is focused as much on beating elite amateurs as he is on being competitive with established professional stars. He almost occomplished that last weekend, as only one elite amateur, Andrew Hall,  Utah's premier non-pro long distance triathlete according to Utah Tri Buzz, had a faster time. Hall, who like  Teddy, also PRed, his 4:04:58 bettering his prior best (4:07) by more than two minutes. ...

Minnesota's 2021 Tri-Opener...

Our state's first swim-bike-run is  the 16th edition of the BUFFALO TRIATHLON  on June 6. It's an iconic event known for it's wonderful venue (Sturges Park), great execution, terrific volunteers, competitive fields and newbie friendliness....
