Minnesota's 2021 Tri-Opener...

Our state's first swim-bike-run is the 16th edition of the BUFFALO TRIATHLON on June 6. It's an iconic event known for it's wonderful venue (Sturges Park), great execution, terrific volunteers, competitive fields and newbie friendliness....

The first Buffalo Tri was a sprint event at Pulaski Lake. The second year the event relocated to Buffalo Lake and added an Olympic-distance race. Today we are sharing the competitive history of the Sprint race on it's current course, which was instituted in 2015. It should be noted that, historically, Buffalo Sprint is the most competitive of MInnesota's "companion" races. (Many events headline their longer races--Half IM, Olympic etc.--even though, with few exceptions, the Sprint races draw larger fields.)
