St. Croix Valley Sprint Preview -WARNING: Some of this stuff is made up.
The 10th edition of the unmitigatedly hunky-dory St. Croix Valley Sprint Triathlon will be staged on Saturday 
in the All American and All Wisconsinian river town of Hudson, which incidently, was founded many years ago by an intrepid explorer from French Canadia named Hudson St. Croix. Hudson selected the site for the town that would eventually bear his name because of its proximity to the I-94 Bridge. This allowed him to cross into the Minnesota Territory and buy stuff, important supplies like tobacco and feedbags for his horses, in Oakdale, which was only a half day's horseyback ride from his settlement that was originally named Muttsville, after his faithful, though mangy, multi-indeterminate-breed dog. Changing the community's name to "Hudson" was the idea of his wife Anais (photo), an otherwise lovely woman who had a goiter the size of a crenshaw melon...

"Hey!" Brendon called in a controlled voice; neither too loud, nor too combative. He walked briskly toward the escaping vehicle.
The taxi driver, who was backing out of a space in the Cub parking lot, stopped and turned his face to his summoner.
Their eyes met.
"Did you throw that out your window," Brendon asked, the index finger of his left hand pointing to a discarded Caribou Coffee container that lay on the striped asphalt. His tone remained non-threatening.
"No I didn't," the taxi driver lied...

These nine (Olympic on Sunday) and 10-year old (sprint on Saturday) events feature a scenic venue, large and enthusiastic crowds of spectators and some of the best post-race eating you'll find anywhere. (Insert yummy sounds here.) The SCVT's Luau, featuring roast pig, is now legendary. And oh so yummilicious! Approximately 600 participants are anticipated for sprint; and 200 for the Olympic.
