At least 35 Minnesotans are registered for this weekend's Ironman Florida. Instead of simply wishing the entire group well, or listing names, we decided to tell you some cool stuff about most (30) of those participants, i.e. the ones who have Facebook pages. We'll deal with half of these folks today, and the rest on Thursday.

Hawaiian Ironman World Championships - Our sport's Super Bowl is Saturday and our butts will be resolutely planted on our swively office chairs like the tendrilly roots of a fig tree, which according to Wiki.Answers.com has the deepest roots of any tree.

MSU-Mankato has it's fall tri coming up, and there may or may not be a race in Mayer, too (Royals Tri). It's name--One Last Tri--is designed to entice those who have either already packed up their gear for the season, or are seriously considering doing so, to get out there one more time.
Last year this race attracted a record 600+ entrants, which caused some parking issues. Good news: those issues have been resolved and parking will not be a problem this time around....

Do you know what the various race records are? We do. We nerdily keep track of that kind of stuff and we're happy to share it with you here. Let's start with the Short Course, okay? Remember, this is Triathlon, and all records are to be swallowed with many grains of salt.
