USAT LONG DISTANCE DUATHLON NATIONALS - The 2014 Long Course Duathlon National Championships will take place in Cary, North Carolina next Saturday. The event, consisting of a 32-mile bike leg bracketed by 5-mile runs, will qualify American duathletes for the Zofingen (SUI) Long Course World Champs next September.
Several of Minnesota's best duathletes will be racing in Cary.
Who?
Suzy Fox, Diane Hankee, Brendon O'Flanagan and Patrick Parish. Maybe others.
Fox was the Minnesota Duathlete of the Year in 2013 and was arguably the fastest amateur female run-bike-runner in the US last season. After her mechanical DNF at Oakdale last weekend, she is anxious to race....

BLAINE PREVIEW - For grinzies, let's make some predictions about this great young event, which will celebrate it's third anniversary next Saturday. First of all, we believe that the race will hit its enrollment ceiling by the end of the week, so please sign-up at your earliest opportunity, okay?
- Next, race day weather should be awesome, even awesomer than the conditions at Oakdale, which were ideal (60ish, clear and light winds). Check out Weather.com's forcast for the 17th (see graphic)....

Several days ago, Uncle Randy (Fulton) sent us a copy of his Oakdale Duathlon entry list. After a glance, we got excited. Registrations were coming in a brisk pace and it looks like the event may eventually field between 400 and 500 entrants.
Though most elite athletes are not early enrollees, we were impressed with the depth of the field thus far, and assume that, by race day, Oakdale will be more competitive than ever.
The race will celebrate its 13th anniversary on May 10, though some may claim that it is actually a 25-30-year-old event, one that started in Mahtomedi (we think?) in the 80s. Uncle Randy would probably agree...

Because the MTN Guys are totally into out state's tri history, we decided to share some Take the Hill's chronology. Here are the winners dating back to 2009. The event launched in '08, but we were unable to unearth those results.
