Heroic Heather!

HLs-ring.gifThe MTN Guys couldn't be happier for HEATHER LENDWAY.

Last Sunday we watched her do what few, if any, female triathletes can do: ride with Sarah Haskins and Alecia Kaye, arguably the two premier non-drafting short course (sprint and Olympic) athletes in the world. Consistent sub-2-hour performers at 1500-40-10, they normally come off the bike with humongous leads.

On Sunday at the 33rd edition of the prestigious St. Anthony's Triathlon in sunny, toasty St.  Petersburg, Florida, Haskins and Kaye were 2:16 and 2:22 ahead of the field, one that featured true stars like Lauren Goss and Mirinda Carfrae, as well as underrated elites Kaitlin Donner and Jennifer Spieldenner, when they dismounted.

But the superstars could not drop the newly engaged (photo  L  - HL designed her own ring, which is kinda blingy and features an awesome black diamond!) Lendway who, after a preme-earning swim (19:18), ...

Minnesota's Multisporter Marathoners...

elieen-b.gif2016 BOSTON MARATHON - A gazillion Minnesotans ran the oldest and most venerated marathon in the world last Monday. A significant percentage of them are, or were, triathletes. For grins, the MTN Guys scoured the list of finishers for the names of the Minnesota multisporters we recognized. We stopped at 4:30, the finishing time, not the time of day, because our fingers were all tapped out. Here are those athletes and their clockings.

Triathletes, if your name is not on this list, please use the COMMENT feature at the bottom of the page to let us know.

Congrats to all the Minnesotans who ran in Beantown on April 18.

Fighting Negative Thoughts....

jess-miami.gifBy Jessica Rossing (JessicaRossing.com)

Life Time Tri - South Beach - Another season has officially kicked off and another race is in the books.

I always love Miami because of its flare and energy. It's a great time to get away from winter and feel the warmth of the sun again.

I love this race because it's a great way to get back at it after the off season and helps you figure out where you are in your training.

We had great conditions. It was overcast and cool. So overcast that the race started about 15-20 minutes late due to such little sunlight over the ocean. The day before it had been over 90 degrees so this cloudy cool day was very welcomed....

Dani V Wins Texas 70.3!

"dani-V-wetsuit.gifV" FOR VSETECKA - 2015 Minnesota Rookie of the Year DANI VSETECKA (pronounced "sheh-tesk-kah") proved yesterday that she may be even specialer than most had assumed. So special, in fact, that like fellow Rochesterarian Ruth Brennan Morrey, and St. Paul's Heather Lendway, her amateur career may be a brief one. Don't be surprised if she is the next Minnesotan to procure a pro license

Here's what Dani did yesterday at Texas 70.3 in Galveston: She took the women's amateur title in a time of 4:34:46. Not bad for only the fifth race of her career. It was also her 3rd half IM victory in as many starts and a PR for the distance by 6:38. Dani has won four of the five multis she's entered thus far.

Next, her margin of victory at Texas was thick--8:16!--over decorated amateur Kelly O'Mara of San Raphael, California. If that name sounds familiar, it's probably  because she placed 2nd behind East Gull Lake's Michelle Andres at Ironman Wisconsin last fall....

Gwen Again...Dan & Jess Rock, too....

Post-images-Partners-1.gifLIFE TIME TRI - SOUTH BEACH TRIATHLON - A pair of Minnesotans rocked socks in the "International Premier Division," i.e. pro and elite amateur, in Miami's thongiest district yesterday. Burnsvillian Dan Arlandson, 40, placed 6th overall / 4th amateur / 1st master in the men's race. He was also 4th (amateur) here in 2014. Jess Rossing, 30, of Duluth, finished 4th in the women's contest. She placed 7th here in  2015RESULTS
