BEST OF MINNESOTA TRIATHLONS: TRANSITION AREAS

Triathlon transition can be crazy and even cause some to become frantic. Organized chaos is an apt description for the 4th leg of triathlon. In order to reduce the chaotic fervor, race directors can assemble participant-friendly transition areas which would include: (a) providing ample racks for bikes; (b) having clear signage for exiting and entering the transition area; (c) providing wide lanes between bike racks; (d) ensuring fair times by having age divisions racking together and having equal in/out distances for all participants; and (e) providing comfortable and safe viewing areas for...

There is a totally cool one-of-a-kind event (that we're aware of) on March 12. It's called the Tri Fitness Beat the Freeze Biathlon.
The event is staged at Bald Eagle Lake north of White Bear Lake and starts at a totally great time: 11 AM. It consists of running or snowshoeing or XC skiing one mile loops with Paint Ball Stations after each lap.
How outrageously cool is that!
The Beat the Freeze Bi is all about fun and participants receive a race beanie. Paint balls/guns are provided as well as great refreshments...

Minnesota's Best Run Course...

Holy frijoles, the best run course poll results are in and the top vote getter might be the most blistering, breakneck and dizzying run course in all of Minnesota. That run course, garnering 51.4 percent of the votes, is of course, Manitou. The 3.1 mile out and back course..

The 2011 Life Time Fitness Triathlon, Minnesota's largest and grandest multi, will celebrate it's 10th anniversary on July 9. We're excited about that and hope that you are, too. Registration will open on February 12. WEBSITE
There are a number of cool changes that have or will be implemented for this year's mega-race, not the least of which was the recent naming of Dave Shutz, the director of the Trinona Triathlon (2010 Triathlete's Choice Race of the Year!), to take the directorial reigns. Peter Spencer, the totally cool and startlingly tall former RD, will now manage LTF's growing list of great cycling events, including the venerable Leadville 100 MTB Classic....
