Haters Gonna Hate...

gopher-jerseys.gifCoach Reveal and Haters Gonna Hate

By Devon Palmer (Posted on December 2, 2013 by palmertri)

Going against my better judgement I have hired a new coach from Wisconsin. Yes, I know. If you follow this blog you will know I am deeply and offensively prejudiced against the simple, heavyset folk of the Badger State. No disrespect. As a proud Gopher I have a long-standing feud with Tom Gerlach and Blake Becker, the Badger pros. Our Ironwar will be talked about through the ages. Side note, one further reflection of how lousy my season was: I lost to both Tom and Blake at different races in 2013. Previously my record against them was undefeated. I have no beef with Madison’s lady pro, Jackie Arendt, who just won Ironman Wisconsin. She is a winner and we both ride QRs so I respect her. Anyways, I found one guy in the state whose opinion I value and who seems to be a half-way decent person....

devon-and-dog.gifNews: New Head Coach ...

NEW HEAD COACH

I am and always will be the CEO of Palmer Tri, LLC but I am excited to announce I’ve hired a new HCO (Head Coaching Officer). The previous HCO was fired at the beginning of August for gross negligence, unforgivable incompetence and a severe scruple deficiency (that is to say, he was unscrupulous). Before and after this individual I myself served as HCO. With all my other duties for the company...

Elongated Duodenums & Neil Diamond...

neil-diamond.gifGoing Off Course - In the movie, "What About Bob?," the multiphobic Bob Wiley, hilariously portrayed by Bill Murray, was asked by Dr. Leo Marvin, portrayed by Richard Dreyfus, to discuss his (Wiley's) divorce, to which Murray's character replied, "There are two kinds of people in the world. She (Rosie) is a "store-bought" woman who makes "me sing like a guitar hummin,'" which suggests that she might be a prostitute. Once again, we're not sure....

What Are You?

swimmers.gifBy Olivier  Poirier-Leroy (swimswam.com)

We all have our own little idiosyncrasies as swimmers. Perhaps you will recognize some of the following characters from your own team and groups, and maybe you will see a striking resemblance to a way that you perform at the pool.

Here are 15 common swimming characters we find in our lanes on a day-to-day basis–

The Meet Swimmer. The crunch time performer, the athlete that stands up on the blocks at meets and swims times that do not correlate whatsoever with the times they perform in practice....

Expectation Adjustment Stuff...

set-goals.gifBy Marty Gaal (for usatriathlon.org)

Part of any well-rounded athletic training program includes realistic goal setting. Goal setting can be as simple as losing X amount of weight and ‘getting into better shape,’ or targeting a specific time or performance goal at a specific event. In the endurance athletic world the tendency is toward the latter although there is nothing wrong with the former.

As the season progresses, you should see measurable results via improved body...
