Minnesota Multisport Awards - To be eligible for the Long Distance Athlete of the Year, and athlete needs to have turned in at least two outstanding long distance efforts, i.e. half IM-range or longer, during the season. Here are the four official nominees for 2014 LDAOY:...

Also receiving serious consideration was DAN ARLANDSON (38, Burnsville), who could be added to the list of nominees if he has a strong performance at the Hawaiian Ironman World Championships this weekend, and NICOLE HEININGER (25, White Bear Lake). Dan's current LD highlights include a 2nd at Liberty (4:10:18), a 4th (amateur) at Ironman Lake Placid. Nicole's LD resume features a win at Liberty Half and a 4th at Chisago (4:46:34 - PR).
