FALLS DUATHLON PREVIEW - Just got a peek--thanks, Andrew!--of the Falls Duathlon registration list. The turnout should be good, as close to 300 athletes have already enrolled....
On the competitive side, lots of "usual suspects" are returning. This clearly demonstrates the worth of this event. If it can bring you back year after year, then someone--Mark & Co.--is doing something right.
And speaking of "usual suspects," or as we prefer, "recidivists," only one of last year's overall Top 10 finishers is not currently signed-up. We wouldn't be surprised if he didn't pop in on race day.
As for the 2016 women's Top 10, half of them will be returning.
We wouldn't be surprised if the talented likes of Suzie Fox, Jenn Scudiero,Wade Cruser, Mitch Brekke, Brad Mitchell and a few others, decided to make a race morning appearance.
Last year's women's field was very strong. This year's will be even stronger. In addition to pro record holder Ruth Brennan Morrey, and amateur CR holder Dani Vsetecka (photo R), the assemblage will include Nicole "Heiney" Heininger, Angela Kidd, Andrea Myers, Katherine Lenglet and several others.
Kevin O'Connor, 2016 winner and MR setter, and former US DOY Jesson Baumgartner, now of Rochester, should lead the way for the guys. They''ll be pushed by Peter Somers, 3rd here last year, Scott Myers, Mario Minelli, Craig Moscetti, Mike Ladendorf and the colorfully attired Steve Stenzel.
Should be an awesome race at the front, and in the AGs as well. Among those we expect to repeat as champs in their respective divisions are Luke Harned (6064) and Stephen Penkhus (70+) to repeat as champs in their divisions, though Harned will have to contend with "Wildman" Jim McDonnell.
Spectate, volunteer or participate. We hope you'll be in Cannon Falls on Saturday for this annual classic. RACE WEBSITE
