- Turtleman Triathlon Press Release
Turtleman began in 1979 and has the privileged honor of being the first triathlon in Minnesota. Hosted on its namesake, Turtle Lake in Shoreview, the race suffered a few setbacks, but was recently revived by Tri Fitness and the City of Shoreview, receiving great acclaim from the community.
With a rebuilt beach and water levels at a 32-year high, the swim is a one mile, out-and-back course. The 25 mile bike course has been remastered into a 2-loop course that allows family and friends to cheer their racers on multiple times. Not only is it more spectator friendly, but much safer. Finally, the run is a 5 mile, scenic route around Turtle Lake.
You have the optin on this Olympic distance race to go modern, decked out with all the latest gear, or old school/classic, no fancy bike or tech gear allowed.
Tri Fitness believes in building community and this shows in the events after their races. Turtleman participants are treated to a backyard-style BBQ with turkey dogs and watermelon.
