ONE LAST TRI PREVIEWETTE - OLT Race Director Jane Deppert sent us an early list of registrants and we almost wet ourselves. The event will feature its deepest field yet and boast what is sure to be a record turnout....
Who will be there, you ask?
National and World champ Heather Lendway, for one, and her sister Lisa, who won the OLT Sprint last year. Maple Grove winner and new record holder Kris Spoth and his talented girlfriend Gaby Bunten will also be racing, along with Maddy Blain, who won this race's Olympic-distance event last year.
Then there's giddy newlywed Nicole Cueno (Artsy-Fartsy photo L), who is undefeated this year in three starts this season, Brian Sames (OLT Sprint inner in 2013), Ryan Bailey (two-time winner this year) and likely Rookie of the Year nominee Kelly Trom. (Sames should be a little tired and sore, what with his having rocked a 9:42 rookie 140.6 at IMOO last Sunday.)
And the battles in the Age Groups will be as fierce as the ones at the front of the races. It's gonna be epic and you can still enroll. More than anything though, this is a fun event, one that embraces the recreational participants, who are, after all, the heart and soul of the sport.
If you miss this event you'll hate yourself. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow. But soon, and for the rest of your life. RACE WEBSITE
PS - One of the best things about OLT is that the transition area is not in the park's parking lot, thus parking, which has always been a pain-in-the-tush for Manitou participants, is not an issue. Athletes can park at the venue and not in surrounding neighborhoods.
