29th HEART OF THE LAKES TRIATHLON PREVIEW - Of of eight Minnesota multis (seven tris, one du) slated for next weekend, HOLT will boast the largest and deepest field. The event has been recognized as the Minnesota State Triathlon Championship since 1995 and this year will host the Best of the US Team Minnesota qualifier. The top 3 male and female amateurs from our state will receive invitations to compete at the 2015 BOUS Championship in St. Paul....

The MTN Guys love this event, the folks who produce it and the community in which it's staged. If you are not currently enrolled in another event (or two) this weekend, we wholeheartedly recommend this special experience.

As we enjoy doing, albeit for sheits and giggles, here are some predictions:

holtkilldeer09.gif- Race Director Jeff Holmberg will look much younger than he actually is.

- Dan Berg, HOLT's registration guy, will look the same as when we first met him in 1998.

- HOLT Committeefolk, Deb and Leo will ride a four wheeler around the venue and be infectiously happy.

- Matt Payne, Kevin O'Connor and Diane Hankee will rock super efforts at Du Nationals on Saturday, then kick ass at HOLT on Sunday.

- Suzy Fox will lovingly tease her boyfriend, Brendon "Dutch Oven" O'Flanagan.

- YWCA Women's Tri director, Nicole Cueno will follow up her her win at Mpls Sprint last weekend with a victory in HOLT's short course women's race.

- Tony Schiller will have seconds at the Staff Party after the race, especially if they're serving pulled pork.

- Most entrants will arrive insanely early so they can hang out with their tri friends.

- Most folks will stay late, enjoying the relaxed hometown atmosphere and the comradery of their peers.
