ROCHESTERFEST OLYMPIC & SPRINT - We hope that these excellent races, the pride of the Rochester community, get a giant enrollment bump this week. Heck, we hope that happens to all of the weekend's events.
PREDICTIONS: We think that Chap Achen, who is coming off a great Masters Record-setting effort at Trinona, will win the men's Olympic title. We think that either Julie Hull or Bridget McCoy will share the Winner's Circle with him.
We're anxious to see how fast Chris Lam, now 17, goes in the Sprint. He won last year. He's very talented and the MMA Selectors wish he'd race more often. Yes, we think he'll repeat as champion. WEBSITE
MANITOU SPRINT TRIATHLON - Based on the registration list we saw, we believe that 2013 Most Improved award winner Brian Sames will collect his 8th career win. Ukranian transplant Lydia Novotny hasn't won a multi since early July in 2012. We think that will...
change on Sunday. A victory would be the 7th of her multisport career. WEBSITE
3rd Annual GRANITEMAN - ST. CLOUD - This event should pull in about 250 participants, which under the crowded weekend circumstances, aint bad. We aren't ready to predict a men's winner, because we don't think he's signed-up yet. We will say that if 2013 Rookie of the Year nominee Larry Hosch decides to show, we think he'll pick up his first career victory.
For the women, we think that intense sibling rivalry will determine the winner. The sisters Danielson--Paige and Greta--are more evenly matched than ever. Little sister Paige, who is like a foot taller than Greta, has come out from Greta's shadow. Paige beat her decorated sister at Blaine, and she beat her at this race in 2013. This year, though, we're picking Greta. WEBSITE
