Mi Brew-Casa, Su Brew-Casa...

mat evansBrewhouse XXVII Preview - The race organizers are stoked, excited about the new home--Island Lake--for this annual classic. If they're cranked up, then so are we, 'cuz Rod and his team of miscreants and ne-er-do-wells know how to bring the FUN and have been doing just that for almost three decades.

Calling Rod, Howie, Matt (photo) and the Guys "Miscreants and ne-er-do-wells" is done with total affectionate. Sure, some of these guys have been indicted, but none of them have actually been convicted....

This Saturday's Brewhouse Olympic and Sprint should draw 600ish participants. Yes, that's down a bit, but races tend to shrink during the first year of a venue change. Many athletes tend to take a "wait-and-see" attitude. Our feeling is this: if you've been satisfied before, you'll be satisfied again. Race officials tell us that the new venue is logomore scenic and the road surface is superior to that found in the Pike Lake area.

So, who's gonna rock at Island Lake on Saturday? We certainly hope that you do. And we suspect that some of Brew-Casa's "usual suspects will. Like who?

- Brian Bich - 10-time BH winner, 4 x AG National Champion, 2008 US Master of the Year. At least 43 career victories. #11? Oh yeah!

- Rhett Bonner - Coming off win at Buzz Ryan. Amateur champ her in 2010. Like Brian, a super-nice guy.

- Jessica Rossing - Like Bonner, she was victorious at Buzz Ryan. Jess finished 2nd at BH 2012 and 2011. We think she'll win this year.

- Lesley Rockwood (Park City, UT) - Has raced in several past editions of this event. Placed 3rd in 2010 and 2009. Also cracked the Top 5 in 2007.

- Sara Hermanson - Talented triathlete with great teeth. She races sparingly, thus few know that she possesses elite creds.
