USAT AG NATIONALS - The current frontrunners for the USAT Athlete of the Year Award (Male), in our fallible opinion, are Drew Scott, 22, Boulder, Colorado, Adam Webber, 31, Denver, Pennsylvania, and Daniel Hedgecock, 25, St. Louis Park, Minnesota (photo below). And yes, we believe that these amazingly talented guys will, in any order, land on the overall podium at Nationals this weekend. Adam, the amiable 6'5" cop, and Hedge have been there before. Scott, son of Hall of Famer Dave Scott has not, BUT he has been kicking arse, amateur and pro alike, all season long. ...
Yes, we think that Hedge can win it. His convincing wins at St. Anthony's and Minneapolis, which in our humble opinion have clearly been the most competitive Olympic distance amateur races of the season thus far, are an apt demonstration of his readiness.
In another post, we predicted that as many as three Minnesota women will Top 10 in Burlington on Saturday. We also strongly believe that three of our guys will do so, as well. We're speaking, of course, of Hedge, Matthew
