Fergus Falls Has It Going On...

logoRace Preview - There are plenty of good reasons to do the inaugural Central Lakes Cycle Duathlon on Saturday.

"Name seven!" a guy shouted challengingly.

Hokey dokey.

- First of all, the event is UNIQUE! Launching with a 19.6 mile bike portion (TT start), then followed by a 3.9 mile run and concluding with a 6.9 mile bike, this is unlike anything that most multisporters have ever heard of, much less participated in. And if you can't get enough saddle time, this event is definitely for you. Most tris have in the neighborhood of a 4-1 bike-to-run ration. Standard dus are in the 3-1 range. The CLCD has almost a 7-1 bike/run ratio. Cool, huh!...

loony bin- Next, the event is in Fergus Falls, which is somewhere in Minnesota. Just kidding. We know where it is. It's a little bit north of Exit 55. Though we've never been in the town, our unassailable Hawaiian researcher, Wiki Pedia, insists that it is a totally cool place to hang out. If you like architecture, for instance, FF has a really cool-looking state hospital (photo L). We think a movie based on a Stephen King novel was filmed there, but we're not sure.

- If you like sculptury stuff, FF has a 40-foot long Otter (photo below) in Adams Park. We don't know what it's made of.
