A Great-To-Be-Alive-Day in New Brighton...

New Bri Tri Stuff - After an exciting womano a womano battle in which Hilary Patzer stalked and ultimately overtook Lydia Novotny, the acupuncturist/herbalist/elite Nordic skier-turned-triathlete emerged victorious this morning at the 6th annual New Bri Tri. Twas Patzer's second consecutive multi win of 2011, and her first tri triumph.

Jill Ellenbecker grabbed the final women's podium spot.

In the men's competition, the battle for first appeared to unfold in much the same way the ladies' race did. It was a mano a mano between 2009 New Bri champ, Brendon O'Flanagan, and Kris Koepp, with the...

embroidery guy from White Bear Lake (O'Flanagan) running down the Rochesterarian (Koepp, pronounced "Kep") and charging on to a four second victory. In the posted results, however, Tom Pettit's time was listed as four ticks faster than O'Flanagan's. We don't know much about Tom, except that he was 15th at Oakdale and, according to his Facebook page, likes Lou Reed.

UPDATE: Results have been updated and the lovely Sara Hermanson (hot photo L), who like Pettit did not start in the elite wave, is now listed as the women's overall champion. Sara, who's training for Ironman Coeur D'Alene, turned in a monster bike split (23.7 mph). RESULTS
