Apple Multisport Festival - The 42nd edition of this event, it's second at it's new venue at Sartell High School, took place on Sunday under very cold and windy conditions. Here's how SHAUN JAMISON described his AMF experience on Facebook:

I got 2nd of 3 guys in the 50-59 age group at the Apple Multi Sport festival triathlon. It was 40 degrees F on the bike/run course not counting windchill. It was nicely warm and humid in the pool area for the swim. My toes went numb on the bike course from the cold so I was pleased to find I didn’t unknowingly break them putting on my running shoes.

It was the first time I had to do a porta potty break at a sprint race. It guess I need to stop my input earlier than usual. Old guy problems. I forgot my gels for the bike race, but it all worked out because I had stopped at the Clearwater exit to pick up a gigantic Carmel roll. Thus, I was in the green for carbs....

Overall it was a nice time without any weird overly competitive shenanigans. I recommend the race, especially as an early season race where you can wait to start indoors.

As expected, men's pre-race favorites in the duathlon and triathlon, ANDY ZABEL and SPENCER SYVERTSON, respectively, lived up to expectations. It was the fourth Apple W for Andy. Spencer, who was nominated for Minnesota Triathlete of the Year, Performance of the Year and Most Improved last season, will fill a race report later in the week.

AMY PREUSSER (pronounced "Prizer") collected her 2nd tri  victory of the young season. ALYSSA KNESE, who did Ironman Texas three weekes earlier, and the Wobegone Marathon the previous weekend, took first in the women's duathlon. RACE RESULTS

IRONMAN 70.3 Chattanooga in the books! My first 70.3 in over a decade! Unfortunately the swim was canceled so it was actually 69.1…

Overall a great race! They started us with a time trial bike start. 3 riders released every 5 seconds. Super fun course and great conditions for a ride! I was thrilled to beat my made up goal time by around 10 minutes.

As for the run, started the morning with stomach cramps during my warmup. Thought for sure I would end up walking and feared the run portion. I started extra easy, kept the pace comfortable, and prayed. Almost miraculously I didn’t get side stitches (that would be a first when having them that morning) and still held a decent pace.

1st in my age group, 6th overall female in amateur division, 21st overall with the pro woman lumped in.

Thank you SkiHut, Tony Stensland, and Dave Cizmas for all the amazing support and encouragement!

ED NOTE:  The 45-year-old 2024 Minnesota Master of the Year nominee threw down impressive splits. Her final total time 4:02:18.
