70.3 Gulf Coast Race Report - My 2025 season opener was one to remember. This race gave us it all weather wise torrential rain showers, gusty winds, and tornado warnings that would later call the race for a majority of participants due to safety reasons.
Swim: Cancelled
Bike: The rain entered the chat as soon as we took our bikes off the rack. It was my first time really hammering in these conditions. Only mistake and wouldn’t have really changed anything other than position off the bike potentially… I missed a turn badly and had to stop altogether just to turn around with wet pavement on the shoulder...
Run: The sun came out in T2 for me which was just in time to enjoy it the entire run. 6+ miles directly into a gnarly headwind. Really had to battle on the last lap of the run to stay in it as more people joining each lap around.
Massive thanks to all of the volunteers and people on course that braved the elements. Thank you to our partners for the speedy new bike: it’s fast @roka_stndrd_racing and @trekbikes! Only thing that may be faster is @cole_tries_tris in the new team kit as he ripped by me.
The Stats:
Bike - 2:09:52
Run - 1:25:47
Time - 3:37:31
5th OA | 2nd AG
Lastly, got to travel with coach @dk_endurance and @b_radkoski for the first time and that was definitely one of the highlights of the weekend. Looking forward to more of these maybe Spain @dkoppeltri.
