LIFE TIME TRI - SOUTH BEACH TRIATHLON - A pair of Minnesotans rocked socks in the "International Premier Division," i.e. pro and elite amateur, in Miami's thongiest district yesterday. Burnsvillian Dan Arlandson, 40, placed 6th overall / 4th amateur / 1st master in the men's race. He was also 4th (amateur) here in 2014. Jess Rossing, 30, of Duluth, finished 4th in the women's contest. She placed 7th here in 2015. RESULTS
GWEN AGAIN - In 2012, St. Paul's Gwen Jorgensen placed 38th out of fifty participants at the London Women's Olympic Triathlon. This year she's favored to WIN, or at least podium, at the Rio Games....
Her rise since London has been meteoric. She won four ITU-points races in 2013, six in 2014, including the World Championship, and was undefeated in eight starts last year, also including the World Champs.
In 2016 thus far she has raced twice and won both times, most recently yesterday in New Zealand at New Plymouth World Cup. Team USA's women's squad heading into Zika Land next August--Gwen and Sarah True thus far-- is expected to be every bit as formidable as the Super Team the US sent to Athens in 2004, which consisted of Barb Lindquist, Sheila Taormina and bronze medalist Susan Williams.
