Crispy & Micah's Mom Rock the Buzz...

4th BUZZ RYAN SPRINT - We knew that this day would come. What are we talking about, you ask? We knew that Jason Crisp, who had won his share of multisport races during his residencey in South Dakota, would eventually start winning on this side, the right side, of the border as well.

Yes, Jason Crisp won the 4th annual Buzz Ryan Sprint Triathlon at Island Lake last Sunday. His time was brisk, a 53:03 on the elongated route. (The bike portion had been lengthened by two miles.) Had he been racing the old route, his time would have been a sub-50, which would have crushed the previous CR....

Second place, 2:18 after Crispy, was earned by the Maple, Wisconsin's Lee Brown, who seems to be making weekly trips into Minnesota to race. Lee was 4th here in 2014.

kaytlin.gifThat Emmanuel Darne took 3rd and the masters title did not surprise us.

Elaine Nelson, the current Queen of Duluth's dynamic multisport scene, lived up to her favorite's status, becoming a three-time champion here. Her time was 58:03 and placed her 8th overall. Her toddler son's name is Micah. He's very cute.

The remainder of the women's Top 5 were Bettina Keppers (4th in 2014), Timberman Sprint winner Jena Ogston (3rd in 2014, too), Leanne Bronson (back strong after missing the 2014 season due to injurious stuff) and Kaytlyn Garrison, 16 (photo L), who is totally on the potential Junior of the Year nominee radar.

This year's BRS drew 120ish entrants, approximately 30 more than 2014. This event, which is totally groovy, deserves to be much larger. RESULTS
