Heavily Caffeinated Guy Wins New Bri Again...

Linda-sch.gifPhoto - Linda Schievelbein, 51, flexing after she rocked a 6th place woman's finish last Saturday at New Bri. Have you met Linda? She's a totally cool person.

8th Annual NEW BRI TRI - Devon Palmer collected his 2nd win three starts this season on Saturday at Long Lake Regional Park. His time--1:00:33--was two minutes faster than his last effort here, a victorious 1:02:47 in 2010 and, relatively speaking (because course distances get tweaked often), is probaby the fastest men's clocking in race history. A super effort on a windy day for the heavily caffeinated 28-year-old.

Devon's margin of victory over runner-up Jeff Grebner, who is much older and taller than Palmer, was substantial: 4:53. Greb's 1:05 was a great masters time, though, and Jeff went on to WIN the Buffalo Sprint the next day. Great double for the Greb-Monster.

A guy from Wisconsin--Jason Johnson--grabbed 3rd place in the men's race....

Dominating the women's competition in a Palmerian manner was several-time Master of the Year nominee Sarah Mercer, whose 1:12:46 probably represents the fastest effort for a 40-plusser in this race's first eight runnings. Her margin of victory over Lisa Wacek, who has truly come into her own over the last few seasons, was 3:04. Wacek, who won the Graniteman Big Lake Tri last season, edged 3rd-placing Ilinoisian, Christine Johnson, by 13 seconds.

Angie Hop, who is a HOOT!, also raced, finishing 8th. We mention her here because we like her a lot. As we said, she's a HOOT!

We're guessing the the race was a hoot, too, because it was produced by Uncle Randy, whose events are super fun.

New Bri Tri, which which was reduced to a 5K in 2014 due to yucky weather, had 170 finishers. RESULTS
