SARTELL – Larry Hosch (photo)  decided enough was enough when he was 256 pounds.

The former St. Joseph mayor and state representative decided to get healthy three years ago. Now he's seeing the rewards from losing 70-plus pounds.

"I showed up for my last term in the Legislature and my suit shirts didn't fit my neck. I was OK with punching another hole in the belt, but I had enough when my neck was getting too big for my clothes," Hosch said.

"I knew that's when I had to do something about it."

Hosch, 37, finished in seventh place at the Apple Duathlon on Saturday morning in Sartell with a time of 1 hour, 26 minutes and 45 seconds. It was Hosch's third time running the race....

"I'm down to 175 pounds. I started eating right and getting healthy," Hosch said. "I started out by lifting weights and going to the gym. I did a 5K and found out I was OK at running. After starting to run, I realized I wanted to do more.

"That's when I started to get into triathlons and added some variety to my workouts. I'm enjoying it a lot."  READ MORE
