Sometimes Acronyms Are Our Friends...

DLCCC Indoor Triathlon - Sometimes acronyms are confusing, especially for those of us who are behind the social media curve. Not all of those OMGy and LOLy acronyms are intuitive, though "WTF" certainly is.

Do you know all of the acronyms pertaining to learning disabilities and developmental and personality disorders? Neither do we.

Sometimes, though, acronyms are good. Don't you think, for instance, that saying "ED" is preferable to saying "Erectile Dysfunction?" This way we can actually talk about it in public without actually thinking about it too much or having a mind full of sad images.

Another "good" acronym happens when super long stuff gets abbreviated, like calling the Detroit Lakes Community and Cultural Center Indoor Triathlon the DLCCC Tri. Note that the official race name consists of 52 letters and seven spaces. Whew! The acronym aternative only has nine letters and one space. Big improvement.

In case you didn't know, the DLCCC Tri happened last weekend and 22 athletes participated. Like the Life Time Fitness indoors, the event consisted of a 10-minute pool swim, followed by 30-minutes on a stationary (recumbent) bike and a 20-minute treadmill run. Also like LTF, point values, not total distance, determine ultimate placements.

In keeping with the abbreviation motif, the participants were known by their first names and the first initial of their last names, which is kinda cool. The winner was a guy named Aaron T., who amassed a total of 61 points, which was only one point more than the guys--Andy V. and Greg J.--who tied for 2nd. The fastest woman was Becky S., who had 53 points, three more than runner-up Moriya R. RESULTS
