COLT Pre-Coverage - In a landmark study at Morningwood Academy, it was proven that yucky weather can have an adverse effect on performance. This may or may not have been proven true yesterday in Alexandria at the 12th annual Chain of Lakes Triathlon. On Tuesday, we hope, former Alex-ian Angie Hop, who may or may not have won yesterday, will file a race report that could suggest that the race-day weather in her ancestral hometown totally sucked. It should be noted here that it is possible to have fun at races that are contested in crummy weather. Ang will probably comment on that. She may mention that a guy whose name rhymes with Strarcus Momberg may or may not have also repeated as champion and whether she did or did not "Shoot the Minnow" on race eve. COLT RESULTS
Cinco Du Mayo Duathlon - It didn't snow and temps maxed out at a balmy 37 degrees. The 180ish of the 250ish pre-registered athletes that made the trek out to Square Lake learned that a race doesn't have to be poopy just because the weather is. It was a day for dressing in layers,...
not setting speed records. In the end, 2012 Rookie of the Year runner-up Brian Sames, who is engaged to a very pretty and nice girl, followed up his 2nd place (1st amateur) effort at Falls Du last week, with a decisive win yesterday. Co-favorite Jen Scudiero, who is also pretty and nice, won her fourth consecutive run-bike-run dating back to the last season. We're anxious to see how she fares against fellow pretty and nice person, Suzy Fox, a 2011 US Duathlete of the Year HM who also deserved that accolade last year but didn't get it because she didn't race at Nationals or worlds, next weekend at Oakdale.
Cinco's short course race was won by last year's runner-up, Steve Stenzel, who was wearing his lucky plaid bike shorts. He shared the Winner's Circle with Krista Spreiter of Hudson, Wisconsin. Krista is into adventure racing.
Many of Cinco's race production crew wore sombreros and bandito-style mustaches, which made them look totally cool. CINCO RESULTS
Take the Hill Triathlon - We still haven't seen results, but will post a link as soon as they are available. We're gonna guess that the weather in St. Peter yesterday, like the conditions in Alex and at Square Lake, was sub-optimal. - WE HAVE JUST RECEIVED RESULTS - RESULTS - A race report by Dan Chies, pronounced "Chess," is a Spanish deal, will be posted on Wednesday.
