YWCA Indoor Tri #2 - Few things are cooler than a 60-something guy winning a triathlon, unless of course, the 60-something guy was already cool to begin with. Cool older dudes winning races is cool-squared.
Tom Couillard, AKA the "Pride of White Bear Lake (photo L)," is the guy we're talking about. He won the YWCA Indoor Tri #2 last weekend. The race being a YWCA thing, women outnumbered the men 8-1, which is also cool, isn't it?
It should be noted that Tom was the men's winner. He actually finished 2nd in the overall standngs behind Margaret Kelley. Margaret may be from St. Paul Park, we're not sure. We do know that she loves the YWCA Women's Triathlon, which won the Race of the Year award in 2012, and has participated in that annual classic every year since 2008.
Here's some stuff about Tom: He is a proud alum of St. Thomas U. He really likes Marine stuff and the song "Abraham, Martin and John" by Dion. He prefers Pepsi to Coke. He often hangs out with fellow White Bear-ian, Michel Sanders, who is very nice and can ...
turn the world on with her Mary Tyler Mooresque smile. She likes local band, "The Dixie Hicks" a lot. Michel placed 4th overall at YWCA Indoor #2.
