Nick, winner here in 2009, 2010 and 2011, crossed 30 seconds thereafter. Given that construction forced a bike course alteration that reduced the distance by a kilometer, Serreyn's clocking was the equivalent of a 1:07-and change on the old route, a time what would have significantly lowered the course record, set by Madrinich last year.. Nick's time on Saturday would also have done so, as would the clockings of Bob Wolter and Jared Smith, a pair of talented up-and-comers, who took 3rd and 4th respectively.
Fifth place overall was earned by 2012 Minnesota State Triathlon Champion Suzie Fox, who posted her 2nd Chaska victory (she also won in 2009, her first career W), and second in six days.
