11th LIFE TIME TRI - MINNEAPOLIS - Superstar Sarah Haskins won the equalizer, but only by 9 seconds over four-time Olympian, Hunter Kemper. Both athletes set new course records. For Sarah, it was her 4th consecutive win here. For Hunter, it was his 2nd LTF-Mpls victory. He also won in 2006.
Dan Hedgecock won the men's Elite Amateur race again, lowering his 2011 CR by 19 seconds. He was joined on the Top Step by Cathy Yndestad. This was her 6th (!) LTF-Mpls win.
Other winners included Brasil's Fernando Toldi and Sarah Castillo of Madison, Wisconsin (International Citizens), and Ohio's Jahan Culbreath and Minneapolis' Jennifer Fitzharris- Funk in the Sprint. (Ang Hop was 2nd.)...
A zillion words and great photos will post on Tuesday. RESULTS
TIMBERMAN XXVIII - Brooks Grossinger won T-Man's Olympic-ish distance race for the 2nd straight year. He was won two of the three multis he's entered thus far in 2012. Former Timberman champ Rod Raymond hauled his cool shaggy hair and mammoth calves across in 2nd. Z-TRI champ Elaine Nelson made it two-in-a-row, i.e. two wins in two tries this season, with her impressive 2:08:49 performance. Ann Snuggerud placed 2nd and Kris Kolenz took 7th. We mention Kris 'cuz she's a HOOT and we like her a lot.
Like Brooksie, Adam Himes repeated as T-Man champ, albeit in the companion sprint event. Kerri Persons claimed the women's title. RESULTS
GRANITEMAN - CLEARWATER - Nearly 400 athletes competed this morning at the 3rd annual Graniteman - Clearwater Tri. The men's race was apparently co-won by Nevis' David Lewis, 38, and 55-year-old Nebraska stud-master Lincoln Murdoch. Their times are listed as 1:19:18. Lewis's career resume now boasts 2.5 victories.
Collecting her first-ever win was Marey Erickson of Waite Park. Marey, pronounced "Mary," is very nice and we are really, really happy for her. RESULTS
