Race Coverage - You may have heard that Megan Rocker was the women's champion at last Saturday's 4th annual Du at the Dam. Even if you didn't, most of you know that she's a pretty darn good multisporter. She placed 7th at Oakdale, in case you weren't aware.
But what do we REALLY know about Megan (photo L)?
If you really want to get to know someone, you need to visit their Facebook page, where you can find out what rock bands and TV shows they prefer or if they agree with us that "Bridesmaids" was a total hoot and that Kristin Wiig is kinda hot in addition to being a brilliant comic actress and writer.
We digress....
Megan likes "The Allman Brothers" and has read The Chronicles of Amber series. She's a little bummed that "House" will not be in Fox's Monday night lineup next Fall. We share her bummed-outedness.
Here's some FB stuff that she says about herself:
"Two dogs; four cats; one husband. I read. I ride my bike. I eat pizza. I drink. My life is scintillating."
Geez. You must agree that, other than the four cat thing, there's much to like about Megan Rocker.
The men's Du at the Dam winner was Luke Nelson (photo R). We know that he, like Megan, is a very good tri/du-athlete. But not much more. We tried to find his FB page but do you know how many "Luke Nelsons" there are on Facebook? Dozens.
So we'll do some guessing. He's 38-years-old, which means he was born in the mid-70s. His musical tastes would not have been developed until the late 80s or early 90s, thus we assume that, because he's a dude, he liked "Blaze of Glory" by Bon Jovi and pretended not to like "Hold On" by Wilson Phillips. It was totally not cool for guys back then to admit that they liked Wilson Phillips' stuff, even though most of them kinda did.
Luke probably also watched and enjoyed "21 Jump Street" on television, and doubtlessly has recently rented (at Redbox) the movie version, starring Channing Tatum and the consistently hilarious Jonah Hill, because he thoroughly enjoyed it when he saw it on one of the 10 screens at Andover Cinema. (FYI, Luke is from Ramsey, which doesn't have any movie theaters. That's why he had to go to Andover to see movies on "The Big Screen.")
Back to the race. The event consisted of two 3.2-mile runs bracketing a 14-mile bike leg and had 146 finishers. Conditions were bright, warm and humid. Here are the Top 3s and a results link:
