Going "Off Course" - Fun-loving Minneapolis triathlete / coach / mom of kids who thinks she's crazy / former journalist Diane Birkeland has nice arms.
She should have. She spends several hours every week "whaling on her guns."
She's particularly proud of her left gun, particularly the biceptual area on which she enjoys crushing European beer cans....
Her left arm can crushing thing has a nueropsychological explanation. She might be what some would call a "Right Brain" person, which means that she's occasionally frivolous, likes artsy-fartsy stuff, eats potato chips in bed and usually votes democratic. That is, unless being a Right Brainer means that you're analytical, think clearly, cannot draw and always vote republican.
We never did understand that Left Brain/Right Brain dichotomy stuff.
After reading the answers to her "Off Course" questionnaire, we concluded that Diane is ambi-cerebral, capable of being whimsical one minute and forthright the next. Or even mixing the two, like eating potato chips in bed while writing no-nonsense journalistic stuff on her laptop.
Her contradictions make her a more interesting and cool person. It makes her complex.
She knows that eating too much sodium isn't good for her, but that doesn't prevent her from carrying a salt shaker in her purse. Occasionally, she will be a hard ass with those she coaches, demanding that they stick to their training schedules when they'd rather watch Family Guy and eat chicken wings, while she blows off her swim workout in favor of watching Slumdog Millionaire for like the bazillionth time with a mega-bag of Old Dutches in her lap.
Wonder how she'll vote in the next election?
Here's some more cool stuff about Diane.
