We started to get steamed, then, with the help of strong chemical sedation, we chill-axed and tried to look at the situation from the PT's point of view.

And she did have a point. Sort of.

Yes, there has been a bit of recidivism among the winners. It's a rare year that Jan Guenther and Brian Bich don't win something. And some of the nominees appear to be perennial.

But that is changing.

We ask the PT, and others who agree with her, to look closer at last year's honorees. In 2010 a pair of Jennys--Wilcox and Shaughnessy--each took home multiple awards. Neither girl had previous nominations. Though nominated for awards in 2008 and 2009, Patrick Parish finally took home some trophies--three of them!--in 2010.

And though not all of the nominees for this year's awards have been announced, one has to be impressed by the volume of first-time nominees.
