In 2014, 83 adult multis (triathlon & duathlon) were staged in Minnesota. Thirty-three adult multis are currently scheduled for the 2025 season. Unsurprisingly, struggling races are unsustainable. Unfortunately, many of our most iconic races, starting with Liberty and Lake Waconia, have also come and gone. Saying goodbye to events like the Minneapolis Triathlon, Superiorman, Heart of the Lakes and most recently, Lake Minnetonka, is painful. We hope that race directors, existing and aspiring, will fill the holes in the calendar, and July and August are littered with openings, with new events. Who knows, maybe some of those new races will become iconic.
MTN congratulates the organizers of the MORRIS TINMAN on the success of last weekend's races. We hope their larger-than-usual turnout portends increased enrollments for the other races on the 2025 schedule. Next up is the APPLE MULTISPORT FESTIVAL in Sartell on May 18. The Apple is our state's oldest multi, ...
and for the second straight year features a triathlon as well as the du. It also offers events for runners and cyclists. Check out the event's WEBSITE to learn more.
We at MTN love to post race reports, and hope to post lots of them this season. Our first report of the year--MITCHELL CLAYTON's big win at Morris Intermediate--will appear here and on MTN's Facebook page later this week. Use FB to contact us with your reports.
We are pleased to announce that the BUFFALO TRIATHLON, cancelled in 2024 due to road construction, is back. Scheduled for Sunday, June 1, a big crowd is expected, and we're talking about both participants and spectators, so don't miss your chance to be part of it all. RACE WEBSITE
