Thompson & McGregor Throw Down POYs....

Photo - Though DKT and Shyanne McGregor were overall Performance of the Year recipients, we thought it would be cool to post a pic of phenomenal 55-year-old CHERYL ZITUR, whose overall victory at Square Lake Sprint was the POY for a Minnesota Grand Master and is arguably the Overall AG POY.
MINNESOTA MULTISPORT AWARDS - Most would agree that SHYANNE MCGREGOR's 9:47:52 at Ironman Florida was the clear women's 2020 PERFORMANCE OF THE YEAR. The second best performance by a woman last year? Once again, that belonged to the mother of three from Duluth. Shyanne's dominant win at Graniteman Clearwater was a special effort.
If there was a bronze medal for POY, that would go to DIANE HANKEE for her victory at Green Lake Olympic.
Male POY came down to a battle between a former pro--DAVID THOMPSON--and a current one--TED TREISE. Teddy's (He probably hates to be called Teddy?) win at Graniteman Clearwater was impressive. JOSH MORK needed to set an amateur course record in order to place 2nd, 1:10 behind Treise. It should be noted that Clearwater was the most competitive men's race of the season.
Was Ted's effort the POY, though? Not quite...
Thompson's return to triathlon after a four-year hiatus proved that he can still do that voodoo that he do so well. Once again, Mork rocked a huge effort, guillotining a full three miny=tes off ANDY WIBERG's previous Square Lake CR. Thompson, however, lopped another 2:01 off of that. In other words, he lowered the course record by just over five minutes. Men's Performance of the Year? Absolutely.
