VoteButton 2017

Yup. Once again we encourage everone to vote for their favorite multisport event of the year. The Top Five Vote-Getters will be announced on this site on Tuesday, October 17 (Voting concludes at 11:59 PM on Sunday, October 15).

Who will win the 2017 Triathletes Choice Race of the Year award?

That's up to you. If you are eligible to vote, that is.

Here are the criteria:

- Voting Eligibility - Only those Minnesota tri and/or du-athletes who raced in one or more of the events listed ...

below. They can only vote ONCE and it MUST be for an event in which they actually participated. Race Directors are also allowed to vote. They can vote for only ONE event and it can be either for their own race or one they attended as a spectator or volunteer. Out-of-state athletes who raced in Minnesota events are also encouraged to vote for their favorite Minnesota racing experience.

- Eligible Voters are encouraged to vote for the event that they most enjoyed. Please do not vote for the event that you feel is the grandest or best-staged. Base your choice on how much YOU enjoyed the experience, whatever the reason for that may be. This award is not for the BEST race of 2017; it's for FAVORITE race of the year.

Is there a better destination triathlon in Minnesota than the Timberman Triathlon? Where else can you stay at a resort and the family can play in the pool and cheer for their racer(s) at the same time? Not to mention the race itself is as well organized as a race can be. Seriously, if you think there is a better destination triathlon in Minnesota, please reply because I would like to put it on my calendar for next year.

First Tri in 30 years. Very organized. Very friendly. Very welcoming. Plan on it again in 2018.

ED. And what race would that be?

We have always liked the Elysian Rookies Triathlon, the oldest triathlon in MN. It's a short (8 mile) but challenging bike course. It's always held the first Saturday after 4th of July (when there are lots of bigger triathlons to pick from) but it's a nice one. Next year will be Elysian's 35th year of holding this race.

My first tri and it was the best experience.

I'm with Rob, a draft legal race would be a FUN experience and would give a little break from all of MN's non drafting races. Race directors: This is a great idea.

What's the chance of any draft legal races (duathlon and/or triathlon) being put on the Minnesota race calendar in the near future? How many of us would be interested in doing a draft legal race?
