MINNESOTA MULTISPORT AWARDS - Yesterday, we revealed the official nominees for 2016 Grand Master of the Year.

Today we introduce the nominees for 2016 ROOKIE OF THE YEAR. The criteria are the same as those discussed in the intro to yesterday's post, though the athletes that these nominees are measured alongside are past ROYs like Kortney Haag (2008), Suzy Fox (2009), Heather Lendway (2012) and Nick Nygaard (2014).

Here, in alpha order, are the official nominees for 2016 Minnesota Rookie of the Year:

- 4th @ Superior Man - 4:41:31

JOEL LA FRANCE, 36,  Minneapolis

- 1st @ Chequamegon Fat Tire Olympic

- 3rd @ Walker Triathlon

- 3rd @ Bertram Blast

- 3rd @ One Last Tri Olympic

- 8th @ Superior Man - 4:24:06

ANDREA TREMAINE, 29, Minneapolis

2016 Highlights:

- 1st @ My First Tri

- 2nd @ St. Croix Valley Sprint

- 6th @ Heart of the Lakes Sprint

- 9th @ Gear West Duathlon

- 9th @ YWCA Women's Triathlon

MAGGIE WEISS, 22, Excelsior

2016 Highlights:

- 2nd @ HITS- Waconia Half IM

- 3rd @ Heart of the Lakes

- 4th @ Life Time Tri - Minneapolis

- 14th @ Lake Waconia

Also given serious consideration were ZOE REKER (23, St. Paul) and ALLIE NOWAK (27, Plymouth, MN).

The 2016 Minnesota Multisport Awards will be presented on November 12 at Gear West Bike and Triathlon in Long Lake. Additional information will be posted soon.
