Suit Up or Stay Inside?

When it is cold outside there’s always a question about whether to go out or stay in. Here are some tips to help you with your “in-or-out” decision.

How cold is it outside?

Temperature isn’t everything, but it’s a good place to start. There are some people who will workout outside no matter what the temperature is, but that’s not the majority of us. My minimum is about 30 degrees with biking and 0 degrees with running as below these I feel like I’m just going through the motions, and I feel that I could get more high-quality work done...

indoors. Your minimum temperatures might be different than mine, but I’d encourage you to consider your effectiveness (as well as your safety) when establishing your minimum.

How are the conditions, aside from the temperature?

Depending on other weather factors, when it’s sunny and calm, you can workout comfortably at 30 or 0 degrees, respectively. However, either of these with cloud cover and a 20mph wind gets cold and miserable quickly! Further, here in MN where the humidity is higher, a 30-degree day feels colder – even if it’s sunny – than 30 degrees on a drier day. READ MORE
