MINNESOTA MULTISPORT AWARDS - There were 69 races, down from an all-time high of 83 a few years back, that were eligible for the TRIATHLETES CHOICE RACE OF THE YEAR award. Forty-three races (62%) received votes. We hope that that percentage grow next year.

Races were evaluated on a "% of finishers" basis, not by total number of votes. This allows smaller and medium-sized events to  compete for the title. History tells us that an event needs voter support from at least 20% of their participants to win. Here's how this year's top five finalists fared. ...

1. HOPKINS ROYAL TRIATHLON (352 finishers / 84 votes) - 23.8%

2. YWCA WOMEN's TRIATHLON (935 finishers / 222 votes) - 23.7 %

3. GREEN LAKE TRIATHLON (227 finishers / 45 votes) - 19.8 %

4. TIMBERMAN TRIATHLON (279 finishers / 28 votes) - 10%

5. SUPERIOR MAN TRIATHLON (306 finishers / 22 votes) - 7.2%
