May Report Card...

Sheena-Dauer-PT1.gifPP-wedding.gifIsaac.gifPhotos - Sheena Dauer, Patrick Parish and Isaac.

With a little more than a month of racing in the books, a couple of MMA Committee members thought it would be cool to highlight some of the great stuff that happened in May (and late April). These are "mock" awards, meaning that we don't have any stuff to give to the winners. Please know that if we had stuff to give, we'd totally give it. Maybe we can talk Devon Palmer into giving Peace Coffee, which is awesome, to the winners.

Also know that we made up the categories.

INSPIRATIONAL DUATHLETE OF THE MONTH - ISAAC - Isaac is blind and physically challenged and he totally ROCKED at the Apple Kids Duathlon....

MAY DUATHLETE OF THE MONTH:  PATRICK PARISH - PP's month featured two wins--Oakdale and Gear West--and a 2nd (Apple).

DUATHLETE PERFORMANCE OF THE MONTH - MEN:  MATTHEW PAYNE - No controversy here. Matt's amateur record setting victory at Apple was Epic and could earn a POY nomination at the conclusion of the season.

DUATHLETE PERFORMANCE OF THE MONTH - WOMEN: ELAINE NELSON - Lots of competition for this mock award, like Suzie Fox's CR win at Falls and her W at Gear West, as well as Diane Hankee's epic win at Oakdale. Elaine, however, beat the deepest women's field ever assembled at Apple. As with Matt, here effort may receive a POY nod at season's end.

nick-K-apple.gifTOP JUNIOR OF THE MONTH - NICK KLONNE (photo L) - The 18-year-old from Rockford set junior CRs at Apple, Gear West and Falls. He cracked the overall Top 10 at GWD, and made the overall podium (3rd) at Falls.

MASTER DUATHLETES OF THE MONTH - JAMES HANNON and MANUELA KNISPEL - Their performances at Apple were stellar. Hannon lowered his own 55-59 CR and Knispel nuked her 40-44 winning time in 2014 by seven minutes. Both of these athletes should pick up some hardware at Nationals week after next.

GRAND MASTER DUATHLETES OF THE MONTH - HANK LARSEN - We were very impressed with his 75-79 divisional record performance at Apple. SHERI SCHROCK - The MTN and MMA Guys congratulates Sheri on her divisional wins at Apple and Falls.

TRIATHLON PERFORMANCE OF THE MONTH - PRO:  HEATHER LENDWAY - We rank her close 2nd to Leanda Cave at Las Olas International in Fort Lauderdale slightly above her 3rd at St. Anthony's.

TRIATHLON PERFORMANCE OF THE MONTH - AMATEUR: LISA LENDWAY - Lisa's half-hour margin of victory at HITS-Bradenton Half IM, in her long distance debut no less, was an obvious choice here. The overall course distances were a tad short, perhaps a K, thus her 4:40 translated to a 4:44-45, a great time for a LD veteran, a super time for an LD rookie.

BREAKOUT ATHLETE OF THE MONTH - SHEENA DAUER - We weren't surprised by her runaway win at Morris Tinman, but her 3rd-place finish at Apple blew our minds. We knew this girl could run, but she proved her worth in the saddle, too. She beat a plethora of established stars in Sartell, and for that, she gets the BOAOY, which with $1.89, gets her a cup of coffee at Dunn Bros. Wish we could be more generous.
