TURTLEMAN IS BACK – In 2011, at the age of 28, the Turtleman Triathlon dropped off the Minnesota calendar. Why? Turtle Lake had become too shallow to support a triathlon. Well, the water level has risen, as has the enthusiasm for reviving the classic event, which will be produced by TriFitness Events. The Shoreview event will happen on Saturday, August 8. Stay tuned for more information.

RACE NEWS – Grand Forks’ Sean Cooley has won five of the six editions of his hometown Ice Man Triathlon. FYI, Coolio did not win the inaugural race for a very good reason. He wasn’t there.
The Ice Man, which is one of the coolest events ever, is actually a quadrathlon. It starts with a cross country ski segment, followed by a mountain (or Fat) bike leg and run. Then participants jump on their sleds and slide to finish line. Cool, huh? ...
Sean Cooley is a handsome rookie doctor who is in love with Hanna Grinaker, who ran at UW-Madison. The good news is that Hanna’s in love with him, too. Do you know her? She is awesome. She looks like famous actress Amy Adams, who has been in a zillion movies, including “American Hustle,” and one of our favorites, “Julie and Julia.” RACE RESULTS
MORE RACE NEWS – Tomorrow we are posting Jeff Gilmer’s Life Time – Maple Grove Indoor Tri race report. Since it doesn’t mention the women’s winner, we thought we’d say something about her. Her name is Austin Stair Calhoun, which is a truly cool name, don’t you think? Very erudite and aristocratic. We Googled her and discovered a wealth of stuff that makes us admire the heck out of her. Her’s a quote from her website:
I am an educational technologist and content strategist who also wears the following hats: front-end developer, UI/UX designer, project manager, and information architect. I once wore a fedora.
I am also a critical thinker who has a Ph.D. in kinesiology, a problem-solving protagonist who likes to save the world one website at time, and an ardent scholar-advocate who believes social change and social justice come from applied, grassroots education, training, and research.
Her website also includes a drawing of her (photo). Austin likes “The Voice,” though we doubt that she agrees that Cody Wickline has had the awesomest audition so far. She has a pair of awesome striped jammies that we’d like to get for Trudles next Christmas, and likes Sriracha Sauce.
EVEN MORE RACE NEWS – The 11th annual Tri-U-Mah, Minnesota’s largest indoor tri, took place at The U on March 1. It was won by Dan Dutcher and Michel Sanders. If you didn't know,
Michel is into dancing and has a Magic Johnson smile. The event had 183 finishers. RESULTS
