Whoops-A-Daisy!

Oops! In the past few weeks we have discovered a few of the many reporting errors we made in 2013. A deadly pox upon us for the egregiosity of our faux pas-es. (What is the plural form of "faux pas"?) In any case: Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima cupla! (Latin for "We're really sorry.")
Here are the boo-boos that are making us look and feel like do-dos:
#1 - When speaking of Cathy Yndestad's 2013 scorecard, we mentioned that she had won five multis and now has a total of 64 career victories. Cathy (photo L) actually won six tris in '13. The one we missed occurred early May. It was at the Esprit de She Sprint Triathlon...
in Tempe, Arizona. Cathy won that race by a whopping 3:09 margin, and therefore, has, unless we missed another W along the way, 65 career multisport wins. Cathy could have corrected us along the way, but she's didn't because she Canadian. Humility is mandatory in Canada.
#2 - When Matthew Payne won the MMA for his 4:05:52 / 2nd place effort at New Orleans 70.3, we erroneously claimed that his time was the fastest ever by a Minnesota male. We studied results going back to the late 80s. We had a press release on file from the 1997 Muncie Endurathon that claimed, in effect, that Michigan's Peter Bolen (a totally cool guy, by the way!) was the 2nd fastest amateur in a time of 4:04:55. In the last few weeks we unearthed a copy of the official results booklet, which was published after the press release, and showed that Kevin O'Connor was actually the amateur runner-up (behind Troy Jacobson), and his time was 4:02:59.
Sorry, Kevin!
Had the MMAs existed in 1997, KO would almost certainly have won the POY trophy for his effort at Muncie and would have duked it out with Tony Schiller and Doug Davis (and probably Rich Heilman, too) for the Triathlete of the Year award.
