National Honors...

ruth-and-suzie.gifUSA Triathlon will be announcing their 2013 Athletes of the Year in the near future and, as usual, several Minnesotans are being considered for awards or Honorable Mentions.

More than several, actually. Eleven of our state's best multisporters are in contention. They are:

- MATTHEW PAYNE (AOY HM)

- HEATHER LENDWAY (AOY or AOY HM)

- HEATHER LENDWAY (Performance of the Year)

- CATHY YNDESTAD (AOY HM)

- KEVIN O'CONNOR (MOY HM)....

- GREG TAYLOR (MOY HM) (Now residing in Yankton, SD, we consider the former Makatoan, who does most of his racing in our state, to be an honorary Minnesotan.)

pam-headshot.gif- RUTH BRENNAN MORREY (Elite Duathlete of the Year)

- DAN HEDGECOCK (Elite Duathlete of the Year)

- PATRICK PARISH (Elite Duathlete of the Year)

- SUZIE FOX (Amateur Duathlete of the Year)

-JENN SCUDIERO (Amateur Duathlete of the Year)

- PAM STEVENS (Grand Master Duathlete of the Year)

Two of these athletes--Ruth and Pam--appear to be shoo-ins to win in their respective categories. We also suspect that either Suzie or Jenn will win the amateur DOY trophy. Heather Lendway and Kevin O'Connor appear destined to receive HM status. As for the other Minnesota considerees, our fingers are crossed.
